As a Devon-based artist I take inspiration from coastal landscapes and natural organic forms.
My main interest lies in surface texture and colour.
I use pewter as a mode of expression, using unusual techniques to create prismatic qualities in the metal. I am fascinated by this versatile metal and love the elements of energy and spontaneity. I create an alternative to traditional paintings on canvas. I am fascinated by the way pewter can be given vitality and beauty by the many shapes, textures, and patinas that are possible.
I find I am inspired by landscapes and natural organic forms as well as geometric forms. I find most of my inspiration at the beaches near to my home. The motion and textures in the sea are most fascinating to me and it is these that I recreate in my pewter images. I take colours and textures from my images and transfer them onto jewellery resulting in distinctive, exclusive pieces. Always exploring new processes and finishes, my pieces are made using traditional methods with a modern twist.
